“Six Yezidi Women Rescued after Eight Years Being in ISIS Captivity”

Uncategorized

Dasinya is a 13 years Yezidi girl who was 4 years old when ISIS kidnapped her. Recently she was located and rescued from Turkey. She is now settled with her family in Shariya. Dasinya was trafficked by ISIS terrorists on August 3rd, 2014, along with 19 members of her family. She was freed from ISIS captivity on June 3rd, 2023, along with five other girls. Dasinya traveled from Turkey to Erbil. On June 7th, 2023, Dasiniya and five other survivors arrived in Erbil and were warmly welcomed by their loved ones. Dasinya can’t remember any of the people who were waiting for her arrival, she speaks Arabic and doesn’t know Kurdish and she knows little bit of Turkey. She has kept doing prayers forced by ISIS. More than 2700 females and 1308 males who were kidnapped by ISIS are still held captive, indicating that there is a possibility of discovering more missing Yazidis. On the other hand, around 327,000 Yazidi people have been displaced since 2014 and reside in camps within Iraqi Kurdistan. Together, we pray for the freedom of all missing Yezidis, their reunion with their families and loved ones. Ps. The aforementioned name is borrowed and a picture of the family is attached to this email with their face blackened. Panaga Organization for Education

In post-ISIS Iraq about two million people are internally displaced. The Sharya camp in Duhok alone harbours thousands of Yezidis who have fled the forces of ISIS. In total, this camp accommodates 20000 people, at least 9000 of whom are children. Maggie team has offered help to Panaga for an innovative solution. There is for instance 8-year old Rizgar, who came back from captivity speaking English fluently. He was kidnapped by ISIS and taken by an American ISIS family. When he returned, he appeared to have unlearned his mother tongue, because of the trauma he experienced. Soleen too was affected by captivity. She is 10 years old and was among the top students in her class. Whilst being held captive for 2,5 years, she was mistreated by her adoptive parents, who she came to believe were her real parents. Some of her family is still missing. These children might be physically free but mentally they are still in captivity. Rizgar, Soleen and hundreds of kids just like them are waiting for proper psychological and educational attention. To give them any chance to be freed from the indoctrinated ideology, they need trauma care. Panaga NGO, Maggie Program and DMOA architects have combined forces in creating opportunities for these children in need
