” Reported by UN agencies as one of the most poorly constructed camps”.

Aid,  Humanitarian

Reported by UN agencies as one of the most poorly constructed camps, Shariya camp is home to around 17,000 individuals. These families are usually subject to harsh weather conditions and fire accidents. Fortunately, these five families made it safely out of the big fire, but their tents, vehicles, clothes, beds, furniture, and everything they had collected over the five years of displacement were burned to the ground! We are so happy that we could show up with some help to these needy families. Many Thanks to Zarok – Kinder e.V. Org. and their team from Germany that showed up with their big care and love for these people…

Day 13 – Maggie goes to Yezidi

Field Trip,  Trip

Yipikajee…a holiday. At least for 5 hours…The Maggie team needed some battery recharging after 11 days non stop working and we were desperately longing for some sightseeing in this gorgeous Kurdistan region. While our touristic guide Zirak showed us around, construction site chef Daxel and his Yezidi team filled the Maggie roofs with mineral wool insulation. Not the most fun work to do, sorry for that guys. In the afternoon slijpschijfman Pieter had the thrill of his life with cutting a piece out of the container for the final electrical connection to the street. And last but not least…a fantastic barbecue from Hayat and Fares. Toedeloe Maggie Panaga.Org

Pop-Up Old Sina

Pop up,  school,  teaching,  Uncategorized

The Pop-Up model is one in which we go to an unfinished building, otherwise unoccupied space or build a temporary shelter and bring together any kids in the area. Our goal is to provide kids with non-formal, temporary educational support. This programming seeks to go to villages or areas that are underserved and struggling. It will seek to fill the gaps by offering classes and social interaction for the students. An overarching objective is to build stability, give relief, and provide community cohesion. We have started the first day of the Pop-up – Sina school on 5th August. When got the community there and the kids welcomed us warmly, they were very excited about the program. On the first day we had 45 kids. On the second week, the kids’ number reached 65 kids, in the third week more kids came to register their names, but there weren’t enough space in the classes, since we had only two classes. The volunteer were very active and humble with kids. Art trainer gave them a lot instruction about drawing and painting, and the kid drew many beautiful art works. English teachers taught them body parts, colors, ABC, greeting and introduction. The kids were also excited with dances, games they did and stories they listened to. The program is supported by Zarok, a German NGO.
